The two hotels that accept pets
The Ramada is about three miles from the terminal, next to Bishops Stortford Golf Club, with free parking. It has no shuttle, so drive or take a taxi to the terminal. The Days Inn is at the Welcome Break services at M11 junction 8, a 5- to 10-minute drive from the terminal, with paid parking. Neither hotel publishes which species it accepts on its own website; confirm the type and number of pets with the hotel before booking.
Dogs at Stansted Airport
Stansted Airport allows only assistance dogs and dogs flying with their owners inside the terminal. Pets flying abroad must meet the rules of the Pet Travel Scheme. There are two assistance dog relief areas: one at the end of the terminal forecourt before security, and one near the APV building after security, where a member of the Assisted Travel team takes you.
Pets on trains and coaches
Greater Anglia, which runs the Stansted Express, carries up to two dogs, cats or other small domestic animals per passenger free of charge, provided they do not occupy a seat. National Express coaches do not carry pets other than assistance dogs; assistance dogs need a harness or a pet carrier, and the operator recommends booking ahead. Train and coach times into London are in the central London guide.
Travelling with children
Cots, family rooms and the terminal’s baby changing rooms are covered in the family-friendly hotels guide.
