The Escape Lounge
The Escape Lounge, airside in the main departure lounge, opens 4:00 am to 7:30 pm: seating, hot and cold food, drinks and a calmer hour before the gate. It has no showers and no sleep facilities, and it closes in the evening, so it cannot help with an overnight connection. Book ahead on busy mornings; walk-up entry sells out in the first wave.
Where the showers actually are
Every shower at Stansted belongs to a hotel. The Days Inn sells day-use blocks from three hours, the cheapest wash-and-nap at the airport. The Radisson Blu, five covered minutes from the terminal, pairs rain showers with the PACE pool, sauna and steam room, the closest thing Stansted has to an arrivals spa; the Hampton is the walkable budget version. Resting without a lounge
